Approach

There is an innate energy flowing in each of us, nourishing our vitality, well-being, and direction.

Shamanic cultures have called it Life Force. Indian traditions, Prana. Chinese traditions, Qi.

When this flow is disrupted, it can get stuck and form a blockage. As a result, we can develop a variety of chronic physical and mental health conditions, including chronic stress, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, anxiety, depression, addiction, PTSD, digestive disorders, immune disorders, and neurological disorders. It is not uncommon for these conditions to have no identifiable biomedical cause, and may be labelled as auto-immune, stress/trauma-related, or mystery illnesses.

In addition, by disregulating our natural flow, blockages can generate reactive patterns in our thoughts and behaviors, potentially fueling negative thinking, emotional instability, dilemmas, and general feelings of stuckness in one’s life.

Energy blockages form in response to past experiences, including but not limited to physical trauma (violence, sexual violence, war, accidents, surgeries, burnouts), emotional trauma (loss, abuse, neglect, betrayal), biochemical trauma (infections, excessive stress, mold exposure, chemical exposure, substance abuse, dietary imbalance), developmental trauma (pre-natal, birth, post-natal), and intergenerational trauma.

With that being said, it is unnecessary to retrace the exact historical events in order to release the blockage. In fact, our story often becomes clearer as we heal.

Releasing blockages starts with feeling into the body: to notice the flow of sensations moving beneath thought.

This may be challenging at first. Perhaps the body feels numb, painful, or overwhelming. But, with a little practice and the right resources, we can come to sense the body and access the blockages.

What we find is that blockages are tightly wound stuck energy. And that as we work with them, they begin to unwind, transform, and release. As they do so, they open new sensations, new insights, and new possibilities. Gradually, they become softer and more malleable, restoring flow and freedom.

Through this process, we also gain new insights about who we are. The different parts moving within us: feelings, thoughts, desires, dreams. And through this heightened awareness, we may find ourselves simultaneously being something more than these parts.

Something greater and unwavering, that cannot be reduced into thought.
