My approach to spiritual growth is straightforward: we are already whole, endowed with life energy, by the mere fact of being alive.
However, because of our inner resistance to our experience of reality, we form internal blockages that split and disrupt our natural flow.
In other words, when we experience something that we don’t want to experience, we have the ability to suppress it. In so doing we inadvertently block our own life energy.
When we carry blockages within, we suffer. Our mental health suffers as the blockages get triggered by our everyday experiences. Our physical health suffers as our body does not receive the energy flow it needs to stay healthy. Our spiritual health suffers as we become disconnected from our joy, love, and essence.
To release blockages, we turn our focus inwards and allow the stuck energy within to move through us.
Sometimes, just realising this is enough to restore flow. Often, however, blockages are held deep within and have gained momentum over time. This keeps them hidden under the surface and makes them highly reactive to getting triggered and overwhelming us.
Therefore, we practice presence: the ability to stay in contact with our whole experience without getting lost in it. We support presence through the use of internal resources: meditative practices such as breathing, body-awareness, and visualisation.
As we grow presence, we can allow the blockages — that is, the past experiences that we have internally suppressed — to gradually resurface, move through us, and release, clearing our inner state and allowing our natural flow to return.
As the blockages that had kept us trapped are released, our awareness frees itself from worldly attachements. We then come to know ourselves as pure presence, pure energy, pure potential.
